Manipulated Memories I-XI. (2018.)

Most of the real stories remain and come from the family photo archive. This collection is regularly displayed at family events. We are amazed and thrilled at the well-told lives and we wonder. It’s pretty emotional. We are looking for similarities and differences between our physiognomy and that of our relatives.

I will never be able to know the true story of the photos used in this work. I’m trying to make my own stories to fill the gap. With digital image processing, image manipulation, I can create an alternative reality from faint memories so that somehow I, too, can become part of the past. Building from pixels, digitally create the lost, extinct time, to reveal the relationship between the part and the whole.
